🌱 Earth Day 2025 Outreach: Inspiring the Next Generation at Nakasero Primary School
On Tuesday 15th April, 2025 Green Lens International in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) headed to Nakasero Primary School for an exciting and impactful Earth Day community outreach activity—centered around clean cooking awareness and environmental conservation focusing on tree planting.
🌍 Why This Matters
With climate change accelerating and indoor air pollution still affecting millions of households, there's an urgent need to promote sustainable practices like clean cooking and tree planting. By educating children, we are planting seeds of change that can grow into powerful climate action within homes and communities.
🌟 What’s Happening?
We’ll engaged over 600 children from Primary Four and Five through an inspiring and hands-on program that includes:
🔥 Clean Cooking Education & Live Demonstration
Children will participated in an interactive class on clean cooking technologies, focusing on the benefits of using improved cookstoves and Electric Pressure Cookers.
Our live demonstration showed how clean energy solutions are safer, healthier, and better for the environment.
🌳 Tree Planting Activity
We planted over 200 indigenous and fruit trees within the school grounds. This hands-on experience teaches students the importance of reforestation, biodiversity, and long-term care for Maama (Mother Earth).
👧🏾 Empowering Young Ambassadors
We believe children are powerful change-makers. By equipping them with the knowledge and tools to talk about clean energy and environmental conservation, they can become ambassadors for clean cooking and influence positive change in their families and communities.
